Citizens' Crime Watch Annual Report

October 1, 2010 - September 30, 2011

Citizens' Crime Watch of Miami-Dade County's Neighborhood Watch Program has been instrumental implementing crime prevention and education in the community. In 2010 - 2011:

  • Established more than 344 new Neighborhood Watch groups countywide in the Miami-Dade Police districts, including municipalities such as City of Miami-Upper Eastside, Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, Doral, Pinecrest, Biscayne Park, North Miami, El Portal and Town of Miami Lakes, as well as revitalizing 215 old groups. These new groups and revitalized groups brought a total of 65,000 residents, and distribution more than 89,000 pieces of crime prevention literature, all of this with just 3 crime prevention coordinators for the entire county.
  • Received more than 1,750 ''calls for service'' requesting various types of information including joint programs with other agencies, 375 statewide ''requests for information'' and 437 calls from across the country on how to implement Neighborhood Watch in multicultural (Hispanic and Haitian) communities. Additionally there were over 3,476 inquires through our web site from around the country, South America, England, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Philippines, France, Columbia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile, Paraguay, Venezuela, Argentina.
  • Hosted several trainings for the International Visitors Bureau of the State Department from various countries.
  • Coordinated 45 Senior Crime Prevention programs
  • Participated in countywide events such as bicycle rodeos, safety fairs, health fairs, Miami-Dade Police Majors’ Night Out events, Miami-Dade Police Districts Open House, Celebrate Safe Communities, Halloween Safety Event, Stop the Violence Seminars, County Commission Chairman Joe Martinez's Hurricane Safety Event, Participated with Commissioners Audrey Edmonson, Rebeca Sosa, Jose Pepe Diaz, Dennis Moss, with their Safety events, CCW also joined forces with Miami-Dade Citizens Corp. and participated in their Safety Events.
  • Participated in 45 Radio Programs, including several appearance on Channel 23 Univision, Channel 4 CBS, Channel 10 ABC.
